The U.S. Postal Service.............?

is facing increased competition
from firms providing overnight delivery of packages
and letters. Additional competition has emerged
because messages can be sent over computers and
fax machines. What will be the effect of this competition
on the market demand for mail delivered by
the post office?

The mail volume at the USPS seems to be growing. Part of the growth would seem to be due to the fact that (at least where I work) almost everything that is sent out or received by fax must also be mailed, as must some e-mails. This is driven mostly by the fact that many things require a signature, and an original signature is often required. Even at home I see this trend. My electric bill comes to my e-mail, and a week later USPS delivers the original. The competition seems to be mainly for overnight or other premium expedited services, and even there USPS fares well in my view in the areas that matter to me. The USPS cost is competitive, or lower than others, the service is as good as any other, the tracking service works well, and like others USPS will pick up at your door for free. Even just a letter with a $0.39 stamp on it. Now that is real service.

UNLESS THEY FIGURE OUT A WAY TO DELIVER JUNK MAIL IN A DIFFERENT MANNER.. i THINK THE usps IS SAFE.. CUZ ALL i GET ANYMORE IS juNK MAIL!!
seriously.. do your own homework.. this does not require that much thought!
