You are a social service work, how would you handle this situation. One day, an enraged young man stormed into |
the agency demanding to know the whereabouts of his wife, whom he had ordered not to leave the house. The wife was cowering in Karyn's office after being referred by her physician for suspicious bruises. I would have told him that she called you guys and you told her to go to the police station, and if he was looking for her that's were she may be, because you have never met her and she never showed up at your office, however, he should go there as well because the police called and they are looking for you. Then when he goes to leave, push him down the stairs. ?? What's this, the plot in some soap opera? I would escort the man out of my office and sit him down to discuss things rationally as I have one of my coworkers call the local police. He does not need to know the whereabouts of his wife at that time. She needs and deserves help and should be helped. You say "I haven't seen her. Is there a problem?" and try to get him to calm down...and get out of the room long enough to call the cops. Speaking as a psychotherapist specializing in couples therapy, you must protect her at all costs. She's in a very dangerous situation, and the agency also has a legal responsibility. go have another drink and after u sober up, u can ask that question again in English Call security, police or whom ever is in charge of protection, if not pull out your stun gun and shock the hairs off his head, the bastard!Punk! I'd ask for a description of the wife, all the while being very polite and seemingly helpful. Then I'd tell him "let me take a look around that I'm not sure i saw anyone that fit the description". I'd go to another desk and call SECURITY and tell them to haul A** to MY AREA. Then I'd go back to the area after i saw SECURITY COMING! You tell him that she is at the police station making out a police report. I am not sure what state you are in or what resources you have but then I would refer her to a domestic violence shelter where she could possibly get more protection than you can give her. I always refer abuse victims on here to ncadv for help. I would kick his sorry butt out of my office and show him how it feels to be bullied... if i was a social worker id have called the police on this guy for storming in that way because it looks like to me that hes abusing his wife. If you are a social service worker and don't know how to handle this, that is really scary. How about picking up the phone and dialing 911? |
