Does Pres Bush only pay lip service to both War on Drugs and Terrorism?

"President Calderon, in office less than four months, has strongly challenged the drug cartels wreaking havoc in Northern Mexico and even sent a dozen drug cartel and gang leaders to the United States to stand trial.

Calderon has shown every sign of trying to clamp down on crime and violence, reasserting federal police power and strengthening Mexico's drug laws. He has sent federal police and the military to eight of the nation's 31 states to stop the escalating violence that could tear apart his country.

President Calderon promises that drug cartel threats to his administration will not stop his crackdown on drugs, crime and violence. And President Bush should demand an equally vigorous attack on the cartels north of the border and expend every U.S. effort to eradicate drug traffic on our southern border."

Bush doesn't appear to be much of a multi-tasker. He seems to be able to focus his attention on only one thing at a time. And frankly, the war on drugs is not that one thing. He does pay lip service to the War on Terrorism...and would say that he has taken major steps in the right direction, but we all know that Iraq is not about the original brigade against terror...so yup...still just lip service. I think he's busy covering his own hide right now...so don't expect alot of action from him...unless it comes in the form of more diplomatic tours. It was a nice vacation for him...

He's only capable of indecision (not firing Rummy until it was WAY too late, Katrina, etc), and wrong decisions (IRAQ).

is it lip service that we have been killing terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia?

In my humble opinion, what Calderon says and what he does may be two different things. You said, he was in office for less than 4 months and came out against these drug cartels like a gang buster. Let's see if Calderon will be able to keep the course; if he does America will than be more overtly supportive of his mission. Our neighbors to the south have a history of saying one thing and doing another.

By the way that's a real good question.

How can you fight a war on herbs and chemicals again? or on a method of attack? I suggest we start a war on bombing... let's see who wins. Kid, the US gov likes to start fake wars to hide the real one under. The real war is the war on brown and poor people. The rest is like a war on candy, or on poverty... it's not a metaphor, it's propaganda.
