Does yahoo work as a third party escrow service?

Im buying a vehicle from the United Kingdom and the seller claims that Yahoo! Autos is going to set up the transaction. I received an email from yahoo autos, that looks very legit, and they said in the email i should send the money via wester union and then fax or email yahoo the following info, "How to send the money?

1. Locate the nearest Western Union Office

2. Make the payment with cash (Send the money to the seller)

3. E-mail and fax us the following details from the payment receipt:


- MTCN - 10 digits number from the payment receipt ;


- Sender's name and address ;


- Receiver's name ;



- Amount you sent ;

In order to send us the payment details please use the following fax number and e-mail address:

Please help, I would really love to know if I am 100% covered by Yahoo! autos. I want to purchase the car but i dont know if its legit.

Nope it is a scam, I ran into this when I bought my Acura TSX. Cars.com had a couple of these on there. They tell you a story about being deployed in the military or that the car was an inheritance but they live in the UK or Australia where a Left hand drive car would be impractical. They keep assuring you everything is good and that the car is at a warehouse in Denver or Chicago and that it will be shipped to you for evaluation. All you have to do is send $3000.00 good faith deposit by Western Union to somewhere out of the country. The truth is these "warehouses" don't exist, that is not even a service offered by Yahoo. I'm glad I talked to my Credit Union before anything happened. Remember if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
