Is Bush starting a new ploy of giving lip service to a Palestinian homeland??

Did Bush not begin his years in office talking like he wanted Palestinians to have a homeland?....and then somehow went away from that for years......and now he seems to be coming back to it?? What do you make of this? Is it all a part of the constant shifting of the goal post to make sure the ends justify the means?

I always felt that it was a calculated pronouncement on his part that showed that he had no choice but to recognize that's what any peaceful resolution in the Middle East will require. There will never be peace as long as the Palestinians are occupied by the Israelis.

What's really telling is that Bush isn't willing to challenge Israel on many of its openly unfair restrictions placed upon the Palestinians, such as the Wall cutting into the West Bank and surrounding villages, the continued grabbing of land by Israeli settlers, and the splitting up of the West Bank into separated enclaves.

Both the Israelis and the Palestinians are guilty of generally treating each other horribly. But it's obvious that US policy is severely slanted towards Israel, so much so that we aren't in a good position to bring about peace there. The best thing that we could do is to completely withdraw from there and let them kill each other or not. Let them create their own hell and live in it.

He may be serious; he may want peace with Palestine to be an accomplishment of his administration. On the other hand, he may have an agreement with Olmert to allow Israel to take over Gaza permanently, and give the "unsettled" territories of the West Bank to the Palestinians.

hi, i saw your question and i have to answer that. well at first i'm a muslim an egyptian one, you know palastine isn't any far from here. from taba (a place here) we can see palastine. anyways i don't care about what bush says or does concerning your point. let me tell you that palastine will never see peace exept when israel gets out of there. palastine has been taken since lots of years ago and till now every day people die. listen our land is taken and we'll fight till our last drop of blood to get our land back. as god says in the quran israeliens can live with us and keep their religion but they must also stick to peace and stop killing us....if you don't agree and see that our land and freedom is not worth us dying every day then ok take the jews out of israel to america if you love them and care about them that much......thanks

They have never petitioned the UN to be recognised as a State before.

The palestinians have never declared statehood before.
