Who do i make a complaint to about the service i get from american family ins. in missiouri? |
i brought a new car and had ins . with american family ins.this ins was paid .it took almost a month for the payment of ins. to reach my bank that financed my car .and the bank sent me two letters saying i had no ins. someone was not doing their job.by not notifitying my bank that i had ins ..this is disgusting. the bank said that they were going to charge me 1213.00$ for ins, that i already had .these people need to be fired and someone put in thier place that knows what to do and how to do their job. this was in Eldon missouri office at american family insurance co . what can be done to keep this from happening again for we have a lot of other thing with this same company . i am very unhappy about this . Well, if you're going to complain about the insurance company, you need to go to the agent first. Then the state insurance department. talk to your states insurance commissioner you can report them to the better business bureau MIssouri Department of Insurance. This should not happen. It is a very easy fix, the service rep at the agents office should have faxed a certificate of insurance to the lender on the vehicle. It is a standard practice in most agents offices. Once a vehicle is added to a policy , the change is put into the computer system and goes to the main corp. office and a policy endorsement is produced and then sent to your lender for verification of insurance. This can take a month depending on the service demands on the company. Therefore as a customer service standard the agent or their rep should have offered to fax,or mail a copy of the cert to the lender on the vehicle. I worked with State Farm and Liberty Mutual in the Missouri area for years as well as assisting in an Am Fam office. I would speak to the agent if a service rep did the change. If the agent made the change ask for the name of their regional manager. This will help that office as well as the region insure they put a policy in place to provide adequate insurance customer service to their customers. I suggest you talk with two people. Call American Family (sales and marketing), ask for the territory manager for the area where you live and tell him of the situation. First of all if your next agent has binding authority, get a copy of the binder when he writes your coverage. The binder isn't the actual policy, but it verifies you have insurance to whoever needs to know. all you have to do is get American Family to send an Insurance binder showing your deductibles, the vehicle, and that they are listed as a leinholder, also your coverage effective dates . This will take care of it. |
