Is it possible to force a national vote to eliminate polticians obsurd pensions for such minimal service.?

Our Congessmen and Senators do not pay Social Security, vote their own raises, and draw lifetime pensions of about $65K even if convicted of a crime and thrown out of office. How can we stop this corruption and ripping off of the tax payer?

Our sytem of a constitutional republic does not provide for national referenda. we only vote for out representatives, and have no mechanism for forcing a national vote on any issue. So, run for office on the platform of promising to do away with pensions, etc.

vote decent people in there, so probably cant, cuz decent people aren't crooks .

What a fantastic idea, if it were only do-able. Change requires a concerted effort by many, who unfortunately are too busy focused on getting their bills paid and chores done, so although they believe they are being ripped off, they have no time or energy left to devote to change.

I do believe you have to start at the local level with a petition , then take it to your state level and see if it will garnish enough attention to get taken up on a nation level.
Contact you local seat of government or state representative about the legal process of starting a petition. Once you receive the required amount of signatures - you will go about getting it on a ballot for voters. Good Luck
