Is there anyone out there who is kind of in the same position or have been in the some position, as myself?

I am a high school graduate and have completed a General Associate's degree. I am also working towards an Office Services certificate. I am not sure where I should go afterwards. I really enjoy Photography. I don't know the technical aspects, though. I also enjoy taking 'commercial' pictures (nature, outdoors, buildings, etc). Someone also mentioned graphic designing or something in the Publishing area. I don't have many skills in either of the three areas. It's hard for me to express myself...So sorry. I am not very social, and prefer to be in the background of things. I have looked at the Ohio Career Information System. It does have some good information on it. I guess I am just wondering are there any people out there who are kind of in the same position or have been in the some position, as myself, and what did you end up doing? Thanks so much!! And I hope you will be able to understand my (disorganized) thoughts.

Wow! I was in EXACTLY the same position last semester. I had an A.A. degree and I wanted to go to photography school, but didn't really know the technical side of it. I finally decided to go to the University of Texas. I think I want to do advertising, but I have to take a class and make a B or higher in it before I can apply to the program.
I decided I liked photography, but didn't want to do it as a career. My career counselor said that a lot of photographers she talked to told her to advise her students to get a degree in something else and do photography on the side. Once you have established yourself (and figure out the tech side) start diving more into photography. They said it's just hard to make money. The people she talked to said that's how they got into the business.
If I don't do something in advertising I'm probably going to do something with communications. You may want to take some career tests and talk with a counselor to find out your options.

P.S. One of my favorite photographers is Linda McCartney. You should check her out if you haven't yet.

P.P.S. You don't have to have skills in ANY of those fields. They will teach you how to do everything in school, but you really should get a Bachelor's degree.

Good Luck!

i would do what i already did,,find a local photographer in your area who specialises(sp) in the field you want to get in. tell them your education and will be willing to work part time for him/her for free for the training and experiance.you will learn a lot more than any school will teach...i learned dark room skills that way from a old master
