I was misquoted by the doctors office receptionist on some services. Now they will not honor the price quoted!

A very ugly situtation.. I called a local doctors office to have some forms signed by a civil surgeon for immigration purposes. I specifically told them what services I needed and the receptionist or nurse at the front desk told me she wasn't sure what the price was and put me on hold. She came back with a price and we hung up. I called her back the next day to confirm the price and then went to the doctors office. Once I got to the office they told me to come into the exam room and they started taking my vitals. I questioned the nurse why she was doing this because all i needed were some vaccination forms signed for immigration purposes by a civil surgeon using the evidence I had with me that showed I had all my vaccinations complete. She said this was "normal practice." It turned out the civil surgeon could not sign the forms anyway because my vaccinations were incomplete. They told me I would have to pay four times as much as the original agreed price and told me "sorry" for ->>>

That the receptionist gave me the wrong quote and that I'd still have to pay the real amount because of the "doctors visit" and the fee is standard. I told them no I won't pay because the receptionist told me what the cost would be and regardless of that, if they could not sign the forms then all they had to do was tell me that after looking at the vaccination records I brought in, there was no need to have a "visit." The receptionist I talked to went to speak to the doctor and she said there was nothing they can do and just "Sorry" you must have misunderstood what I said. I told her there was no misunderstanding and they can't charge me for something they misquoted me on and on top of that, they didn't even sign the form so what are we paying for? They said that's fine, they'll just send us the bill. Can I somehow fight this? I don't see how it is fair that I pay for something I didn't recieve and then to top that off for a different price than quoted!?

WELCOME TO AMERICA. THE LAND OF DOUBLE TALK AND PRICE GOUGING. NEXT.

they can't know your history nor your paperwork until you come in. the price quoted was for nothing more than signature but once they realized your vaccinations weren't up to date they had to make them up to date prior to signing or the doctor could get in trouble for falsifying documents. the extra charge is for the visit and the shots.

since there is no actual printed price here, you have no leg to stand on. and if you don't pay it, it will just go on your credit report to haunt you till you do pay it off.

Since you don't have anything in writing, you probably don't have a case. The receptionist can just say that you misunderstood. Try to talk to the doctor directly and be calm and direct. If affording the vaccines is the issue tell the doctor.
