How to reformat your own laptop?

do i need any software, and what else do i need in order to reformat? i have windows xp cd rom and microsoft office 2003 service pack 2. is it enough if i want to reformat my own laptop?

insert Windows installation CD

and delete all the partitions, and then create your own partitions.

this way, all files, and EVERYTHING in the HDD is deleted.

well if you have nothing to backup or save then sure. make sure you remove any existing partition information on your hard drive during the reinstallation.

Reinstall with your win xp cd first, once you got it on, install the MSO2003SP3 CD.

you may also need any device driver cds that originally came with your PC. good luck.

why do you want to reformat is it ,to get it back to new as when you received it? as this will wipe everything off,windows has got a roll back option you may want to use tha,t but if no ,here goes. press start ,all programs the you will see system restore click that then follow the instructions.but remember to back up what you want to keep.

Do you have all your drivers? If you don't have a CD with your drivers on it, then I would recommend you download them BEFORE you format. Go to your manufacturer's website and download the correct drivers for your system and burn them to a CD or USB drive or whatever so that you have them. Searching for drivers AFTER you reinstall Windows is no fun, especially since most of the time you can't get online because your drivers for your network card aren't installed.

Your computer has a restore program that will restore it to an earlier date - purchase purchase date if u want to go that far.
check Start/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. Follow the onscreem instructions. That should solve any problems you have
