Myself and my 6 roommates from college graduated in 1987. Not a single one of us is doing anything in the fields that we got our 4 year degrees in.

One of us though went back to school and specialized in Physical Therapy. That is the work he is doing today.

My point is, think about what you want to do and train to do it. If you don't specialize then you who knows what work you will actually do after you graduate.
If you are going for a business degree, then when you graduate, have some money put aside and start you own business. Live with mom and dad and try to keep your expenses down but try to start your own business. If you have any questions about what you need to do then ask someone in the field, they will be glad to give you advise.

well being a junior in college i've learned this about undergrad majors: they really don't have that much of an influence on what type of job you're going to have. Obviously with a degree in accounting or business you would imagine that the job would be in some sort of business field and etc for others, but this is not always the case. I'm majoring journalism, and i don't really ever plan on becoming a journalist at all. It just makes for a very good liberal arts education with a solid writing background that I need to get into a quality law school. My only advice in terms of choosing a major is to take your time, and don't choose tourism management ro hospitality because you don't need a college degree to send people somewhere or entertain them.

These are all emphasis' within the overall scope of a "business" major. For instance, one who studies Travel/Tourism management might aim to work at a Government Tourism Ministry while a Finance major might want to go into Investment Banking. However, there are some majors that prepare you for a specific career better than others.

For instance, most Accounting majors include all the courses necessary as a prerequisite for the Public Accounting Exam. Information Management might give you the specific skills needed to run an office computer system for a medium-sized business. But because there are no hard-skill or test-based measurements for International Business or General Management, these majors just give you an overview of business in general and leave you to work in . . .
