What to do at work?

So I find myself out of work most of the time. I am an assistant. (One of my many jobs, I swear I work multiple jobs because I like variety) My boss gives me a list of stuff to do when I get in, but the thing is, I finish it within 10-15minutes. When he is giving me my duties he says these things as if it is supposed to keep me busy for hours. I finish my work too fast then I end up on yahooanswers or someother site, checking email or whatever to kill time. I don't want to go in his office every 5 minutes asking what's next. Half the time when I go to his office he's not there and then I go back to my desk to fiddle around some more or go to different departments and hang out. I feel like I could be more productive. I mean I want to do work I even go about the office offering my services to others. I help out everyone and still find myself with nothing to do. Am I just a super worker or can I figure out away to make more of my time? I don't to be percieved as a slacker to my coworkers.

oh my god did you work in my office! lol I'm in the same situation. I'm an assistant and I get everything done and then go online and am bored 90% of the time. We both need better jobs. I try to make use of my time by submitting my resume to other companies and reading the news. Doen't this suck? I hate being so efficient. You should email me so we're less bored. lol

I know I'm a receptionist, and I have nothing to do all day, I go on line and look at clothes, then do Yahoo answers most of the day too, its so boring...just tell you boss honestly, be like look, I need more stuff to do, I want to work, hell be happy you wan to do more stuff, If he tells you he has nothing more for you to do, consider getting another job, that's what I'm doing, because my boss has nothing for me to do....hey you can only answer so many questions and read so many magi zines..Good luck..

I was like you before. I didn't want to go to my boss and ask him what more does he want me to do. so when he gave em a list of things to do for him, i did them and them some.
I went to him and told him that the things he gave me to do doesn't talk me that long to do if the is anything for me to do i will do it. so we can up with a plan that he would come in later and i would do so of his work, he didn't mind me doing these things for him and i didn't either.
Don't be scared to let your boss know that your done with your work. it will show that you are good at what you do. and you might get a raise.
