Remote connect to SQL Server 2005 at home from private/office network?

I'm green on this networking stuff so any help is greatly appreciated.

I have setup my home computer as a server and assigned a static IP to it. I installed SQL Server 2005 Developer and allowed remote connections to it through the Surface Area Config tool, added port 1433 TCP and 1434 UDP to firewall's exception list, and started the SQL Server Browser service.

Now I can't seem to remote connect to this SQL Server from my office network. Is there something I'm doing wrong here? Do I need to setup a VPN to connect to my home network?

Yes, I have static IP address from my ISP.

Does your home internet connection to your ISP have a static IP Address assigned? If it's dynamic this may be the reason.

You will need to allow permissions from the SQL server at your office. Then I'm assuming you already have an SQL browser so just put your information in and it will connect.

Make sure that requests on these ports are not filtered by you office firewall.
Make sure you specified that IPs from your office network can access your home network.
Also, make sure these are the only IPs that can as you will become a victim of an attack.
What firewall do you use at home?
