I NEED ADVICE!! my hubby was just offered a position in TX for $11,000 a month for 2.5 months, HELP!?

in his current job he was 1) demoted 2) paid WAAAY less while still being required to do the same work as before. He does have health insurance and I am 4.5 months pregnant so he worries about me a lot.

Job being offered and he will start the moment he says yes. he would be paid $11,000 a month for 2.5 months. We are in the tristate area so we would be moving to TX. We will not take anything other than our clothes rent is SUPPPER cheap were we are planning to go. NO health insurace. What do you guys suggest?

hubby hates his current job (due to the demotion and office politics) and he would be doing the same job in TX but getting paid 5 times more for it.

I am leaning towards the job in TX because i hate seeing him come home defeated every day. I know he is toughing it out just because I am pregnant and he wants to provide for us. What do you guys suggest and why? THANKS guys!!

how would i find out about COBRA?

It sounds like a great opportunity but you have to look at the big picture. Would you stay in TX with the hopes of finding a comprable job after the 2.5 months were over? Would insurance eat most of the extra money he'd be making? Could you even find a doc to see you being this far along? It must be disouraging to see your hubby unhappy but sometimes we have to do things we might not like for our families. I suggest you plan it out all the way until you have your baby with alot of what if scenarios and have back up plans in case things dont work out the way you'd hoped. Then go from there. Good luck.

let him take the job if your insurance is really what is worrying you when you get to where you will live apply for some type of medical card provided by the state. you may have tell them you are separated to qualify for any sort of coverage which is yes not right to lie about but you and your husband have paid into the system and there us no reason not to use it that's what its there for.

I don't know how much it costs to have a baby without health insurance in the States, but with the amount he will be making, will it really matter? You should calculate the cost of being in the hospital and anything extra that you will have to pay for, and see if it is worth it...

Find out how much Cobra costs and how long you can stay on it. It can be very, very expensive- the last time I needed it I paid $600 a month just for me. Also, think about what happens when this job is over- it's only ten weeks, what about on week 11, what will you do then?

I would take it. You could always get on public assistance for medical insurance until you can afford insurance on your own.

i would take it and check into cobra insurance for the time being. will his current employer allow him to continue paying his premiums for the current insurance?

sounds good but you said "$11,000 a month for 2.5 months."
what happens after those 2.5 months??? and doctor bills for having a baby can be very expensive so are u sure u can go with no health insurence?

Take It.

TAKE IT!
