Neep Help!! My apartment office told me they never received my money order for rent and I have the receipt? |
What can I do...I have proof but they are saying they never got it and if I don't pay it I'll getg evicted. Can they do this?? It's not the first time it has happened last time I had to pay this time I don't have the extra money to pay. Please help!!! You have the receipt from them or the receipt from when you bought the money order? If it was the receipt from them just show them the receipt. If it is the receipt from the money order contact the company you bought it from (not nessacerily the vendor, but whatever name is on the thing) and see if it was cashed. If it was cashed see if you can get a copy of something saying that it was cashed. If not, the apartment office may have lost it after you gave it to them and you are semi-screwed. See if you can work something out with them to pay over time, talk to the manager if you must. Keep you cool and let them know that they will get their money, assure them that you did drop off the money order but that THEIR office lost it. Or if they will not work with you go to your bank (not a fast cash place) and get a loan to cover it. Most importantly, if they did not cash the money order, you can contact the issuing company and get a refund; however it takes a couple of weeks so that wouldn't help you right away. From now on, make sure that you get a receipt from the office when you drop off your rent. Yes they can. You may have sent it, but if it never arrived or was stolen, then your rent isnt paid. Cancel the money order, pay the rent owed, and wait for the company that issued the money order to refund your money. If you dont, the apt mgr or landlord will file for eviction. The money order company will wait 30 days once its determined that it wasnt cashed before refunding your money (their rules. If it was cashed by someone other than the apt manager or landlord, then you have a problem. You are out that amount unless the person who signed it can be found. Make sure you get a copy of the money order if it was cashed by someone else so you can make a police report. without knowing how the money order was delivered there really isn't a fool prof way to answer this question. BUT, if you mailed that money order there are way's at the PO to track that piece of mail. If you dropped it off then it's more or less your word against theirs unless you have a witness. If you handed it to a life person they should have written you a receipt. Either way it goes, I would find a better way to pay my rent. seeing as this isn't the first time, there seems to be a real problem with the method you are using. Make a copy of the receipt . Go and speak to these peo |
