How do I find out if there is a warrant for my arrest in North Carolina? |
I was a few months behind in my rent and the leasing office said that they wouldn't take me to court if I vacated within 30 days so I did. Afterward, I spoke with another tenant who was taken to court and she said that my name was on the docket when she went to court. She said that I would have an arrest warrant for a failure to appear. I no longer live in North Carolina. I have moved back to Washington DC so I need to know what steps I need to take. the only way to find out if you have a warrant is to go to the police station and ask.they will not give out the info over the phone.you can not send someone in your place. while there you can only ask about yourself and not another person. There would not be an arrest warrant out for you in this case, but you may owe some back rent to the former landlord due to your not appearing to challenge it. If you have changed your address and done all that one would normally do to be reasonably contaced, there should not be any problems. Statue of limitations will make that baby disappear in i belive it is 7 years. so if you live along ways away hell id wait it out Simple answer to your question..... |
