How to handle Termites?

We are at our wits end. We live in a 4 plex owned by our Local Housing Authority. Last summer we would wake up to our laundry room covered in these black winged ant looking things and I mean covered we could not even see the floor or the front of our dryer. Most of them were already dead. We put a bunch in a baggy and took it to the office and spoke with the manager. They would tell us that the exterminator would be by sometime around the first of the month and spray. they did not know what day or time. He never showed. We told the office again they said the same thing. We waited again. Still no one showed. Well they layed new flooring in all the apt. and since then we did not see them. Well now summer has begun again and they found there way out. We are now sure they are termites. When we pay rent we are going to inform them again and see what happens.
What can we do with out spending any money to help control them in the house?

Our kids are freaking out becuase of the bugs all over the floor. We sweep them up but still they come out all day, mostly at night though. What needs to be done? What can we do if the managment won't take care of this. We have two children 8 years almost 2 and one that will be here in a few months.

look on your local news stations and maybe go to their web site. They always have someone that does a stroy like this to force/ embarres the owner of the apartments (HUD) to get off their bum and take care of the issues. I suggest that you go around to the othere tenants and get a list of folks with the same problem that you have and have them sign some kind of petition. You do this because their is power in numbers.

Call HUD, and get your local health department involved.
