Christians: What should I tell my husband?

My husband is not providing for our family. I don't want to get a job but I am willing to. I might be able to find an office job with decent pay. However, we have two small children that would have to be put in daycare. By the time we pay for that and taxes are taken out of my check, I would end up with $100 a week. And that doesn't count GAS!!!

Back to my husband, he keeps taking commission only jobs that are not paying the bills. Then, this week he up and decides to go to a big Christian meeting for 4 days and not work!!! We have enough to pay rent but not enough for food or any other bills that come due next week.

I know I need to confront him again. I need some BIBLICAL advice and verses to back it up.

The reason I don't want to work is to stay at home with our children.

Personally, I would not recommend that you confront him. I would suggest that your pastor should do this in a tactful way. The Bible is clear that not only are we to provide for our own family, we are to help those in need too and it appears your husband is not doing this.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Still the most important thing you can do is to pray that the LORD will speak to him and convict him of what he needs to be doing.

Yes, you should definitely speak with him about your concerns, but in a non-confrontational manner. You need to speak to him respectfully and lovingly. Explain to him your need for security (financial) for you and your children. Maybe when he understands the stress this places on you and the family unit he will make some different choices. Seek God's voice on this matter before you speak to your husband and ask the Holy Spirit to give you the words to share with your husband so that you don't offend or hurt him in bringing your concerns to him.

Just tell him to get his **** together. Why would need biblical verses to back it up? Tell him he is not doing enough to support your family, that should say enough right there. Tell him not to go to christian meetings if the money isn't there. He won't go to hell if he doesn't attend a meeting.

In order for it to work out you both have to communicate with each other. If he is not rational and you have to use biblical verses just to communicate with him there is something seriously wrong with your relationship.
