What to do when landlord refuses Certified 30 day notice?

What do I do when my 30 day notice NOT to renew lease, sent certified mail gets returned to sender. (myself) living in connecticut.

Will I be at fault for not giving proper notice? Or will my returned letter be proof I made an attempt?

No one is in the office when I drive by and no one answers the phone either. But rent checks have been cashed when mailed to the office.

Please help

Here are your options:
Send another one First Class Mail.

Hand carry one copy to the front door & another copy of the exact same letter to the back door of the landlord's or rental agent's office.

IF you want to, you could write on those you hand carry:
Hand carried to the Landlord's/Agent's opffice on April 4, 2008."

Photocopy it and then hand carry it.

THEN there isn[t any reasion for the landlord or agent NOT to receive the letter.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

VTY,
Ron Berue
Yes, that is my real last name!

Hand deliver another copy to the office (shove it under the door if you have to) and keep your returned letter for proof later in case you need it.

Keep calling and calling until they return your calls or answer. Tell them you need move-out instructions. You can threaten to call the city inspector if they don't respond to you, and that'll get them moving. ;-)

A returned certified letter is proof you gave proper notice. Just keep it unopened in case they sue you.

I didn't think you had to give notice. Check the laws in your state. http://www.hud.gov/renting/tenantrights....
