Renewal Lease for Apartment Doesn't Add Up!?


I pay 1152 a month for my apartment rent. I received a renewal notice a couple of weeks ago that said my name, apartment number, and that my rent, if renewed, would be 845. When I went to the leasing office earlier today, I checked in and they said to come back in later in the week to fill out the appropriate paper work. A received a call from the leasing office shortly after telling me that they had made a mistake and that my rent would continue to be 1152, not the 845 they had written on my renewal notice. The renewal notice is not a lease, therefore, are they still required to uphold the price that they quoted me?

Yes, I'm complaining. No, it isn't going up. But it is catching when there is a 300+ dollar difference in prices.

No...nothing is set in stone until the lease papers are signed by both parties.

No, the renewal notice error is NOT binding upon the landlords. It would only be binding had it occurred on the lease itself, and had the lease been signed by both parties to the lease.

A renewal notice is not a lease so no, they don't have to. They could also say bye-bye see ya later let us know where your new address is. You aren't getting an increase at all and you're complaining?
