How would you find out if charges have been dropped if you don't have a lawyer. The arrest was two years ago.

The case was a dispute between a landlord and his property manager. The landlord accussed the manager of charging tenants more rent than what was agreed upon. He also accussed the manager of keeping rent deposits that totalled $3320.00. The property manager was arrested and bail was set at $1000. The property manager has receipts for every penny but was never questioned. Two years have past and the property manager hasn't heard a word from the court. He is trying to get a security clearance for his current job but doesn't know if his case is still pending or has been dropped. This case happened in a small town in SE Georgia. If the case is still pending he doesn't want to stir the pot by contacting the DA's office. What else can he do?

He wouldn't be 'stirring the pot' by contacting the DA. If the case is pending, the prosecutor won't forget about it, so contacting him/her won't be an issue. The DA's office is the only way to find out the status of the case. If the PM has not had his bail money returned, or notification from the DA that the charges were dismissed, the case is still active.

wow all of this info is public record you could go down or call I think this is your only option

Sometimes you can do a judicial records search online for that county. I am not sure if that applies to you but it is worth a try. If not then you really don't have to contact the DA....contact the clerk for that court. They can look it up for you.
