I have a house that is now in the lawyers hand for forclosure. what will happen? the full process? I'm broke.

I am in this position due to a divorce and now carry all credit card debt from the marriage because judge deemed property equity and total credit card debt were similar. Had house on market since oct. of 07. no takers. cant rent now because too far behind in paymnts. got letter in mail from attorney office saying forclosure starts in 30 days or less. what can i do? how screwed am i? for how long? cant even pay all my bills anyway. i have no assets or savings. my home was on a V.A. loan from when i was in the military. owned the home for 3.5 yrs and it has some supposed equity in it or did. what should i do? the house is in another city and i havent lived in it for over a year.

not sure what you want to do.
I "think" your new life has begun
and you are seeing the ending
of the old one.

Presuming you are employed,
it is time to find cheap rent, or
a fix up purchasable home,
and begin to climb back up the
credit-economic ladder.

if you can get 2 jobs,
one to pay daily living expenses,
and the 2nd, for 1-2 ys, to pay off
old debt, within 3 yrs, you will
have exc credit again and
money in the bank.

available to guide you for free
for a while

You might want to call whoever sent you the letter to see if you could work out a deal of some kind but it probably would have been better if you would have called the bank before you got so far behind. You do have the Bankruptcy option so this might be something you need to look into and soon. You have 30 days so see what you can do about negotiating a deal or you may have to file Bk and then your credit will be affected for several years but take that time to replace, replenish and get back on your feet. Good Luck!!
