I lied to my dad....what do I do?

I'm 18 years old; I am in high school. My dad didn't want me in his house anymore because he wanted to live alone (bachelor). On my 18th birthday he kicked me out; so he is paying my rent, my utilities, and my gas for my car so that I can concentrate on school and I don't have to work. The agreement was that if I didn't miss any days of school then he would pay for these things. I missed 1st and 2nd period last tuesday because I accidentally slept in (which never happens). My school called him and told him immediately. So he called me in the middle of dealing with something really stressful, and I didn't want to get those things taken away so I lied. I can't be working right now. I have 2 months until graduation and have so many things to finish up. I told him that I was there and the office lady was confused. He said okay, and asked me to have the office lady to call him. Now I'm stuck and i don't know what to do. I should probably tell him the truth, but i don't know how.

Ellabell, you are in a difficult situation, however, it is not of your making. Granted, you overslept, mistakes happen, that's why they are called mistakes, otherwise, we'd call them "on purposes". Your father has put you in this situation. You are his first responsibility. Just because you are 18 it doesn't mean "OK, all grown up, now--good luck!" It is good that he is helping you financially, but, that is not the only responsibility a parent has; at 18 I still had a curfew and still needed to be with my parents for guidance and other reasons. I guess this means, you cook, clean, do laundry and everything else that living alone entails.
It seems clear that you are concerned about fessing up because you fear he will put you out on the street. That is a horrible position to be in--is there a trusted teacher or counselor you can talk to? Perhaps they will speak to your father on your behalf. Is your father rigid? Does he lack forgiveness? My prayers are with you, you are a very strong and special young lady. I wish only good things come your way!

Tell him the truth and it was a accident, also tell him you could move back in with him just until your out of school and see what happens. But make sure if he has you stay in your own place then go to class. School is very important

Wait until tonight, when he's no longer in the middle of whatever the stressful thing is.
Tell him what really happened - you didn't miss a school day, just missed a couple classes because you accidentally slept in (a rare but understandable occurrence).

Tell him you have already talked with the teachers of those classes, apologized to them, are are working on the assignments you missed. (Do this now, so you take responsibility for you accidental mistake, and don't add another lie). It always helps to present a solution, instead of just a problem.

If your father knows anything about parenting (which it sounds like he doesn't, putting his bachelor freedom ahead of his paternal duties), then he will respect your maturity and responsible behavior.
