Private property?

I need to vent. I work for a non profit org, we rent from a church. The flowers are blooming outside the office and I went out to take a few pictures of the flowers...and the church secretary comes out asking what I'm doing on private property and that I should tell them before taking pictures of the flowers. I guess I didn't think it was private because I worked onsite for many years...anyways is she right? I told her I worked here, and didn't mean to upset her...but she was not in a bad mood. Made me feel like a little kid getting scold. It's just pictures of flowers for goodness sake. What do you think?

Sounds like she has too much time on her hands. That wasn't very nice and I may be wrong, but I wouldn't think that anyone, especially a church, would mind you taking pictures of their flowers. Flowers that God made. Strange lady............

I think she was over reacting. After she found out you work there she should have apologized.

I think she over reacted. Since you rent from the church it should not be considered private property. If you came and took pictures on my property that would be considered private property. But once you told me you were taking pictures of my pretty flowers I wouldn't have a problem with it. :-)

True its just flowers and you didn't have any wrong intentions like the way she thinks. I hope it should not be rude, in showing them the pictures if you think it good. Or just leave it at that you don't pull up the issue over again the next day you walk to work.

I think she was out of line. My goodness... it's a church!!! And aren't churches supposed to encourage people to be there??? I would think she would encourage you to take pics, show your friends, and encourage them to come worship there with you. Sounds crazy to me!!!!

If you work there, you are not trespassing because you have a legal right to be there. Also you can take pictures of anything you wish.
She is wrong. You are right. Maybe she should get herself back inside the church and do some praying. Might do her some good.
Also, churches encourage people to be there, so definitely you are within your rights to be there taking pictures. You could have asked her who is the person in charge, pastor/priest etc, so you can talk to him about it. That would keep her quiet.
Or ask her "What would Jesus do?"

I'd bet that the person who planted the flowers there would be tickled pink that someone was appreciating them.

Yeah, I think way overreacting. Even if you weren't working there, people have a right to take pictures of private property if they want to. Hardly any photos could be taken outside at all, otherwise.
