Canadian Study Permit Application Questions...?

Hopefully, someone can help... I tried calling an immigration office to ask, but I can't exactly afford to be on hold for 2 hours, while calling internationally...

It says "The cost of my studies will be (in Canadian dollars)", then has a spot for tuition, room and board, and other... Is this asking for the combined total (I'll be studying for 2 years) or is it asking per semester? I'm also going to stay with a friend for a few weeks until I get my own apartment, so I'm not sure of the cost of my rent at this time... Also, how do I calculate "other"?

Also it asks if any member of my family has ever been convicted of a crime. Should I put yes if my brother was arrested 10 years ago? Would that effect ME being able to get the permit, when I have no criminal background?

It also asks how my expenses will be paid (giving me options of "myself/parents" or "other")? What if it will be a combination of my own money and student loans?

They want the total of the school fees, for as long as the course is.

You need to know that rental.

not sure about that.

YES you do - you are required to tell the truth.
That IS what they are asking.

It might, it might not. You'll have to take your chances.

Assuming you are not a canadian citizen or a permanent resident - you will NOT be entitled to apply for canadian student loans.

if you have grants or scholarships from your own country - then you state that as your source of finances. if you have savings you state how much you have saved. if your paremts are paying, you state how much they are paying.

Frankly if you do not already have this money available to you when you send in the application - I do not think you will be approved. You need to have all the money you require to live on, buy food, bus fares etc, and you must pay for your own healthcare. Maybe buy health insurance. And you must be able to show CIC that you already have it - now.

Immigration officer have been know to deny entry to anyone who does not have enough money to support themselves.

Check with the bank to see if that check was cashed and if it wasn't, cancel it. Always get a receipt of some sort when you pay for something, otherwise you'll end up in court.
