Claiming housing benefits and want girlfriend to move in?

hi,im on housing benefit while out of work,if i was to move my girlfriend in and just tell benefits office i no longer wish to claim them as ill be paying the rent and council tax will they want any paperwork of my girlfriend.

bill s,who you think you are calling me a lazy git when dont know any circumstances firstly lost my job through redundancy in nov did not ask for it and have hadf severall job interviews since and still waiting on replys for some so **** OFF.secondly my gfriend in a bit of a mess and it going awkward if they do need paperwork.

They will only want paperwork from your girlfriend if you continue to claim the benefit from when she moves in thus making it a joint claim.

Obviously if you wish to make a joint claim with your GF all necessary paperwork from each of you will need to be supplied.....including 3 or 6 months of past bank statements, proof of earned income from wage slips and ID

If you are going to cease the claim because you believe you will no longer be entitled to it or you no longer wish to claim it you must write to tell them as soon as your GF moves in. You will need to provide them with the date she moved in and state that you no longer wish to claim the benefit from that date. Then There will be no need for them to require anything from you or your GF

No. In my experienced when i was getting council tax benefit as a single unemployed mother All I had to do was inform them the date that my then partner moved in and they closed the case and sent me what i owed to them in my new tax bill , i think the same goes for you, all they need to know that your co-cohabiting then for full payments to be received in the future

hi i take it yr girlfriend is working then they will need to do another form because of her wage and may still be able to get them to pay it for a month
