Landlord/Tenant help please?

My friend just called me in a panic. They moved into a house on December 9, 2007. They signed a month to month lease. They paid rent on Jan. 9, 2008. They just returned home and found a note attached to their door from a lawyer's office that said the house is going to be going up for auction due to foreclourse. What are their rights? What should they do now??

They have the right to move.

Call another Attorney. Do not call the attny that left the note. He works for the banks. Be sure your friends move in and wait to see what the home will be up for on the auction sale. Perhaps they could buy it from the bank. Again i advise to call an attny. Be sure the attny is in that business. Real estate attny.

Unfortunately they have none. Their landlord didn't meet his financial obligations so the house will be foreclosed on. Their deal was with their landlord who is clearly broke, so they are SOL.
