If you have a house in a neighborhood, and it is in a.............?

This house is in a neighborhood and was bought over a year ago, and the new owners cannot sell it or rent it out, and now the new owners have made it an office for their business (construction).
The house looks like any other house but they are running a business out of there and many trucks come and go all day and night there.
The neighborhood is not zoned for commercial business. At least we don't think it is.

What does one do??

They keep it neat, but some problems have arised lately from many people coming in and out.

Is it illegal to run a business when no one actually lives there?

No one lives in there. They come and go throughout the day, night, and weekends.
They store equipment inside the home. I personally don't have a problem, only that fact that tons of work trucks are in and out and this weekend one worker brought their kids there, and these kids decided to bring their bb gun and walk on other people's property shooting at squirels, birds, and one of our neighbors dog!!

You can call your local zoning regulator and report the house being used as a business.

If they are operating outside the planned zoning of that area they will shut them down.

I would have a list of complaints about it ready as well. Like the amount of traffic created by the business they type of traffic (ie work vehichles)

It all depends if they are violating the zoning laws

If the area is not zoned for business, it's against city codes -- but understand that there are various classes of "business.". Check with your Planning Dept. to be sure of how your area is zoned. People can usually make anonymous complaints about violations of city codes. They city should send an inspector out and write them a ticket. You can request anonymity.

I actually run a business out of my home, and it is legal.....but what isn't legal is keeping equipment at your home.

I was told that I couldn't store any type of equipment for the business....that I had to keep it somewhere else otherwise I would be violating zoning. But I am allowed to administer business out of my home.
