How much does it cost to buy a house in long island? and how much does it cost to rent an office there? |
The office needs to be about 2000 sq. ft. Long Island is definately an expensive place to buy a home. There are two counties. Nassau county is the west county and is closer to the city. You are really not going to buy a decent home for less than $475,000, and that would be a small home in a working class community. You can buy a nice size home for about $600,000 in a middle class community in Nassau,. Suffolk county offers more options for home buying. Western Suffolk is not as affordable as Eastern suffolk but is a good compromise to be close enough to the city. Decent homes in Western Suffolk start around $400,000 in working class communities. Eastern Suffolk is much more affordable, but you are way out there. The east end of Long Island is beautiful, but really far from the city. Queens (which is part of NYC) is technically on Long Island and has a great range of costs for homes. Average Home Prices are approx $750,000 (plus or minus) on Long Island NY from the information I have on hand. Which works out to approximately $300/SqFt. I would disagree with Reginald answer on the avg home price of 700k. i live on the island and i would say it is closer to around 500k. Do not get me wrong, there are homes going for millions out here, but the 700k avg sounds high. i live on the south fork, in a water front town, 6 houses away from the bay with a 1/2 acer 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath and my home was appraised for 500k. i would check out Realtor .com and check out the homes on there. |
