Is it wise to post a residential property as office property for rent?

I wouldn't - that just opens you up for weird zoning restriction laws & stuff like that.

I would make sure you aren't breaking any city codes.

IF it doesn't violate any Subdivision Deed Restrictions,
you can advertise for one or both.

Is it in an area that is zoned commercial ?

If it is zoned residential , the office would probably be illegal .

If it is zoned residential then no and you will get caught you can't have traffic going to a residential property for business. The neighbors will complain and the city will shut it down and the tenant will be pissed. The city will never issue a business occupancy permit in a zoned residential area.

It is not a bad idea. You should check your local zoning laws to be sure it is allowed.
