If rent is due by the 5th and the check is postmarked before the 5th and is rcvd soon after is it still late? |
I mailed a rent check with a post mark by the 3rd, expecting it to reach the office by the 5th, which is when rent is due by. I am now being told that I have to pay a late fee. This occured 8 months ago!! Somenthing that I didnt say was that when I disputed this late fee thing 8months ago they sent me a letter saying that they were going to "facilitate a more fair way of determining what was late" then nothing had been said for 8 months. This really bothers me. When I showed them their letter it was treated like it didn't mean anything to them. Should I fight this or just pay it? They charge 10% of the rent, which is very unusual and possibly illegal. ouch, that stinks. usually when something is postmarked before the day they register it as being received by that day. I would say something to them, but actually after 8 months you (unless you sent it by usps or ups or fedex) need proof that it was mailed out beforehand. yep - a due date means by that date. A postmark date means nothing to the person the money is due. That's why you always hear to give the mail at least 7 days. Next time, mail it a week ahead of time. A due date is a due date, regardless of when you mailed it. |

i think the best way is to contact a real estate agent and get them to quickly provide u with quotes.
