If you pay rent on day its due, but office is closed?

for holiday like labor day, is it considered late next day?

The drop box is there for just this type of situation. If you don't like using it, plan ahead by paying early in person next time. Read the lease. Your landlord will follow this legal document. If it is late on the fourth, it is late. To ask your landlord to make exception is to have him violate fair housing laws: What he does for you he must do for everyone else in order to be fair and not discriminate. In order to be fair, he must charge late fees if the lease says it's late on the fourth. Read the lease.

Usually they accept it the next business day after the date it's due. Of course you may want to check your lease to make sure. Sometimes it's required the business day before the due date (if the due date is a holiday or weekend)

It would depend on how it's stated in your lease. Some will say on a due date, or next business day, while others will say on or business day proir. The former is mostly used.

I suggest in the future, just to avoid any possible problems, pay a few days before the due date.

Just pay it first thing tomorrow and request a dated receipt. You will have no problems unless your landlord is a complete lunatic of an azzhole.
