The rent car company requires additional repair and loss expense after they stop dealings with me and I paid.?

I was stolen rent car and submitted police report to the office. They informed to stop dealings with me unilaterally.
I paid for the rent reciept. Maybe, they found the car recently. They require me to pay for repair expense, one day rent fee and administration fee. The damage to car is not my faulty. Please give me a advice.

Your responsibility for the car should have ended as soon as you reported it stolen.

Remind them that the car was stolen. Maybe they have gotten your account mixed up with someone else's.

Their insurance should cover it. If they keep pushing you, contact your own auto insurance company about it.

There is a stipulation that if you damage a rental car, you must reimburse them for any damages plus loss of rental income while the car is in the shop. The policy probably applies if the car is stolen, as well.

I would speak with a manager at the company first and find out if you can get this resolved. If not, find out how they can legally hold you responsible for this. That will at least provide you with a clearer picture of what's going on.

You were responsible for the vehicle. You are required to return the car in the same condition that you got it!!Unless you had a damage waver,(at extra cost) you can be held responsible for any and all loss that the rental company suffers.

You are lucky that they are only making you pay for one days rent. They can legally make you pay for the repairs, and for their loss of use. When the car is being repaired, it is not able to be rented, so they lose the potential revenue!

Check with your insurance company to see if you have coverage on a rental car. If not, and you did not purchase coverage from the rental company, you are going to have to pay the bill!!!

When you rent a car, the contract says you're responsible, regardless of fault. Sorry.
