Who do you pay rent to (or do you?) if your rental unit is foreclosed or auctioned off?

The property I'm renting was foreclosed before I moved in ( I didn't know this. It was also auctioned off at the sherriff's office in Mpls, MN. on November 5, 2007. The old caretaker is collecting rent still. I'm not sure if he is suppose to. He's really not that concerned on collecting either. He says he's coming & doesn't. Don't know who bought the place. Can anybody answer my question??? The papers said they have 6 months before place gets taken over by new owner. Don't know what that's about either. So I figure I have til may 2008. Do I have to pay rent while this is going on? & to Who? I need to know straight facts please???
Sincerely,
Sandy wildangelusa2007@yahoo.com

Your legal obligation is to continue to pay the rent to the same people who you rented from unless & until you are notified otherwise. Notification must be in some form that a reasonable person would regard as legally binding -- such as a letter or note from your former landlord or a copy of a court order or evidence of a transfer of title accompanying new payment instructions.
