Where should I rent a place to stay if I'll be working in Landover, MD?

I'm a young person moving from Europe to the USA. I've landed a job in Landover, MD and keep wondering what is the best place to stay? I know that my new office is located close to the Metro Orange Line - somewhere between the stops: Landover and New Carollton. Any suggestion where I should rent an apartment? How much does it costs?

I will be really greatful for your help ;-)

You seem to be a young single girl...so I would not live in Prince Georges County ( this is the county that Landover is located in ) they have had an increase in crime lately...I would look in Montgomery county...rockville, bethesda, is a safer area and close to the metro...it will take longer to get to landover from montgomery but it is far safer.

Being close to where you will be working is going to be quite expensive. I think you will find a commute is going to be in your future. On line you can find the electronic edition of area newspapers, I think this will help you get a feel for the areas prices.
I lived in Maryland 17 years, always had long commute and very pricy housing.

Go here and decide for yourself the best area. And if you have any question about any area. You can email me at this addy: rudy5372@hotmail.com. I was born in DC and live in MD,VA and DC. Good Luck!!!

Landover, MD is not the best town to live in, but not the worst either. If you plan on driving then it's no big deal since traffic isn't terribly bad in that area if you live nearby. If you plan to take the metro then definitely get an apt close to a metro stop. Bowie, Lanham, Greenbelt, Largo are decent places to start looking. Expect to pay around $900-1200/month for a 1 bedroom apt, if it's any cheaper the neighborhood is probably bad.

I suggest you live in Columbia, MD near Thunder Hill Road there is a Metro stop there and is a safe place to live with lots of stores around you within a 1 mile area. My gf lived there and I visited her often. You want to stay away from Prince George's County at all costs, too much violance and crime.
