I haven't renewed my lease. Should I pay rent tomorrow? |
I've called the apartment complex office three times in the past week, in order to get a new 6-month lease. My current lease expires today. They said it's an extra $100 per month to go month-to-month. I have made it clear I want another 6-month lease. Every time I call, they take a message for the manager. pay the rent but not the extra $100. Dont pay tomorrow, but go the to the office or wherever your landlord is and discuss No, as long as you are living there, you pay for the time you are there on a month to month basis, if there is no lease and they haven't kicked you out by eviction. Most contracts are written up that once the lease is up, the payments go month to month which means that you still owe. It only means that you are not locked in for another 6 month period of time. read your old lease. most of them will say that if a new lease isn't made out and signed then after the original lease is expired that you have a month to month lease agreement or something to that effect. so pay the rent. |
