My rent is due the first day of the month..? |
and the first day of this month was a saturday and the office was closed. I could not get to their drop box to drop it off either. I don't think I can get it to them til tuesday the 4th since monday is a holiday. i think i'm going to have a late fee. is this right? i couldnt get to their drop box because they had the door locked to get to it yes there will be a late fee unless your landlord is very kind no u usually have to the fifth of the month to pay rent by yea probally you will... since you could have paid it earlier before the due date... they might give u a grace period of a few days... try to pay it first thing on tuesday if you can.. No. If it is due and they are closed, they can not charge you a late fee. BUT if they provide a drop box, and if they went in and emptied it on the 1st, then you probably will be late. Why didn't you drop it in the box on the 1st (or EARLIER if you knew you;d be out)? Date it for the first! I don't think there is a late fee for this. Besides they would'nt be able to do anything with it until Tuesday. Just tell them you drop it off at 11:55 pm Saturday night. Chances are they were closed Sunday and Monday! Our apartment complex has a door with a slot in it so you can put your payment in there (in an envelope). They collect it during the weekend while they are closed and deposit it anyway. If you stall then yes you will receive a late fee, since they have accommodated you with the drop slot. You should not have to pay late fee due to fact offices were closed and then holiday was next work day. Just make sure you hand it in on Tuesday am. Yes, you should have a late fee. Read your lease, it is specifically state if you will or not. Look at your lease, it should detail the procedure. Why couldn't you get to the drop box? If it was their fault then no you most likely would not have to pay, if it is not their fault, well you get the picture, sorry Most give you until the 5th of the month. Look on your lease, it should tell you. You have to look at your lease. I was the rent manager at my last job and we did have a "grace period", but even though the computer didn't charge late fees until the 4th, technically the rent was late on the 2nd and we were required to send late notices on the morning of the 2nd. You are probably going to have to pay a late fee, but again, you must go by the dates on your lease agreement. Usually as long as your rent is in the drop box by the time the staff comes in on the morning of late fees, you're ok. |
