A flat for rent in Rotterdam?

I am going for a 3-4 months internship to Rotterdam (to work in Office for Metropolitan Architecture). Can you reccommend or even let me a flat for 300-600 Euro not too far from Central Station?

You're really not going to find anything decent in Rotterdam for that price. I'm an American and I was absolutely appalled when we first moved here last year to see how horribly expensive the rent is considering the quality of apartments you get. The Dutch definitely don't believe in splurging on nice accomodations! The apartments are very small, and many don't have A/C. Central Station isn't an area that you want to live in. Try some of the outlying cities. I live in Schiedam, which is only 15 minutes from the center of Rotterdam, and it's very quaint with much cheaper rent. Also, know that the public transportation system here is AMAZING! Don't worry about living close to the train station because there's a bus system, metros, trains, and trams to get you where you're going! By the way - what months will you be here? We have a huge apartment with an extra bedroom.

you may find something.

600 euro a month is a small flat in downtown. unless you have a roommate.

If you find a 鈧?00,- flat near Rotterdam Central Station I can pretty much guarantee you that there's going to be a problem with it... It's one of the least nice neighborhoods in the country and 鈧?00,- for an appartment in a major Dutch city is not a lot.

But Holland is very small and has very good public transport. You could live in The Hague and still be able to get to work in about 30/40 minutes. Not that you should, just to explain that "close" means something different in Holland than in many other countries.

As far as finding a place goes, won't the OMA help you find one? Or maybe the student office of Rotterdam University or The Hague University?

Vestia is a big housing corporation in the Rotterdam and The Hague area, maybe they can help you find something for a short period?

Good luck!

Seriously, you can find a nice place to stay both in Rotterdam and The Hague... I just wouldn't look for a 鈧?00,- one in the Rotterdam Central Station area by asking for it on the Internet... Bad idea...

Frank B is exaggerating by the way... If appartments without a floor and with a bathroom in the kitchen exist in Holland I'm sure I've never seen one... And nice 鈧?00,- appartments definitely DO exist in Rotterdam and every other city in The Netherlands, including Amsterdam... They're just very hard to find and get...

Most apartments that are for rent in Rotterdam and generally in the Netherlands are of very bad quality (really old and some without even floor or even with the bathroom inside the kitchen room...). Dutch are very stingy with their money and do not have the sense of quality as you have probably been used to in your country in most aspects of life. For a 2 room flat you should expect something ~600 euros. The 300 euro range doesn't really exist.

Den Haag is generally more expensive but also prettier than Rotterdam.

I advice you to stay in The Hague... Rotterdam is not the prettiest and safest place there is (many parts of Rotterdam are very safe, but expensive)
