Where to stay on rent (studio/1BHK) nearby downtown Chicago?

I recently came to Chicago from India. My office is in downtown. I am looking for studio / 1BHK. I would prefer an Indian locality.

If you prefer to live in an Indian neighborhood, there is a strong Indian presence at and around the intersection of Clark and Devon. (Google those street names to view a map.) This is not far from Loyola University's Rogers Park campus. The area is not far from the Red Line and express buses which can easily bring you downtown. (Express bus No. 147 typically takes about 30 minutes to take me from Rogers Park to downtown areas).

There are apartments all over the areas surrounding downtown in all directions, but the most significant concentration of South Asians in Chicago is up in Rogers Park, which is not close to downtown.

Use the Chciago Reader's website, they allow you to search by apartment size and by neighborhoods. Choose the "Housing for Rent" category at upper left before you start. For areas close to downtown, search anything in the central city area, as well as neighborhoods like Old Town, the Gold Coast, West Loop, Near West, Near South, Ukranian Village and Wicker Park.
