To my American friends : do you like french accent?

Not a long time ago, a woman at a Budget rent-a-car office in San Francisco told me it was cute.

French accents are great!!! Many americans think of them as "gay" sounding but they are not! They are manly and beautiful.

Honestly, most Americans would say that the French accent is very attractive. Any negative feedback you might be getting on your question is more likely related to the arrogant and rude person they assume is behind the accent. I'm sure you are a very nice person, but there is a general perception amongst Americans that the French are rude and disrespectful - to Americans in particular. I know that my feelings were hurt over and again when I went to France and tried to ask questions of the locals using my admittedly rudimentary french. They were rude and dismissive. I'm sure that your experience in the US, however, will be a much better one. We do love the opportunity to meet and speak with foreign nationals. - whether or not your English is perfect. Enjoy your stay!
