Is there any winning?

After a sick episode of her over-eating, I took my girlfriend back. She seems happy and relieved. I too missed her and her great beauty. But now she wants me to take a job - so she doesn't have to keep paying for everything. (give her an inch...) However, I haven't worked in 8 years and have no plans to start doing so. I am a very resourceful person and get money from a variety of sources; VA, SSA, VocHab, Student loans for online schools, etc. Plus, the county veteran's affairs office pays my rent and gives me vouchers for food and cleaning/hygiene items. I think I live pretty well. I guess I could handle a part-time job as long as it is something I like to do, but should I take the chance on losing benefits just to make her proud of me?

It's not about her being proud of you. She probably sees that you aren't proud of you and wishes you to be a better person for yourself, not for her. Having a job and being responsible for you own space here on this planet is what it's about. Why should I (or any tax payer) be paying for your living expenses, if you are able to work? I have a job that is funded through federal and state tax dollars; make what most people think of as pocket change, and yet still have taxes taken out of my (tax paid) salary to fund your lazy a**. Tell me this, with all this free time that you have being supported by the government; what are you doing with this time? Are you contributing to better society or somehow letting it be known that you appreciate what your community is giving you? You know鈥?giving back to those who given to you; the basic golden rule of life. My guess is no.
Why are you getting student loans? Are you taking the classes you are receiving money for? And then again why are you taking classes if you don't intend on getting a job? And the whole thing will come crushing down on you when those loans need to be paid back, or are we (the taxpayer) paying your god damned GI bill too?
I think it's unfortunate for you that you never learned what it is like to have the pride of supporting oneself. You make it abundantly clear that you see no self worth in holding down a job. You said that she's paying for everything, so what is it that you contribute to? Rent(?) .... that is minor when it comes to living expenses. I hope your girlfriend smartens up and leaves you before you bring her down to your lazy a** level of existence. She'll be in the poor house for the rest of her life with a lazy bum mooching off her. What if she were in your position (with all the same benefits), how would you feel if the shoe were on the other foot?

You should not care about what anyone thinks of you. If your girlfriend wants you to get a job.....work for Jesus! He already saved you in many, many different situations. He is providing for you everyday and you do not have to work. Isn't time to repay God and save other lives? Then you can truly tell your "girlfriend" that you do have a job.
