Can I live inside of my business?

If I get a commercial residence in a building to conduct my business, can I live out of it? Im not saying that I'd tell the landlord, but how would they know? And what would be wrong with it? Im not saying i'd set up living quarters, with furniture, but probably just bring a sleeping bag, to stay overnight.

Whats the harm, I'd keep up the rent, it would be my office. Can this work?

That's what im trying to understand....what IS the big deal? I know the laws separate commercial and residential, but whats to stop me from sleeping in my own office in a commercial building? And whats the punishment if found out? And whats the reason for them making a law against it?

For that person who asked for more facts: commercial area, me sleeping in my office, city not rural.

So what sleep in ur office !I own a gas station and ive slept there a couple of times. its not a big deal and if its illegal how would anyone find out anyway!

most likely the area is not zoned for residential so if some one finds out could be trouble but need more facts, talking in rural area or within the city, are we talking sleeping over once in awhile or living full time

There's a reason they zone areas commercial, and other residential.

Look at your contract - I believe you will find that residential use of your commercial space is not allowed.

I would seriously reconsider this course of action.

I know in my apartments i'm not allowed to do business in them. It states that in my lease. If they caught me I could go to jail or get fined. Please reconsider. I know people do that a lot but they shouldn't....there are reasons why there are zoning rules.

There is difference between living and crashing are huge. I've crashed at work over 100 times between 1995 & 2000. In my line of work deadlines often require me to stay late I've been working from home now since 2000

I just watched an episode of CSI and 10 hours into his shift a CSI fell asleep at his desk. Ever watch Moonlighting with Bruce Willis in the 80's? He slept on his office sofa all the time. LOL.

There's a huge difference between crashing there and living there.
