Should I move out? |
This is a somewhat complicated story. I am signed into a one-year lease with a roomate. A few months ago, I left town for an extended amount of time due to stress related health problems. About a month and a half later, my rental office refunded my half of the rent for the current month. It turned out she had not paid the rent for that month. After weeks of my calls being ignored and different stories being told, I decided to return (1000s of miles) and see what was going on. Our rent is now 2 and a half months late and we are being sued. I return to her having moved a total stranger in, who also is not paying, and alot of my belongings missing or moved around. She gave me a finacial sob story, and having had hardship in the past, I feel badly. My rental office is offering for me to evict them from the lease and carry on in a one bedroom, less expensive apartment. I feel very guilty. I am not perfect either, but I have had a steady job for 2 years and neither of them has steady work. I feel as though I have been degraded (lied to, stolen from) , and it is also a huge liability for me to continue on with them. Paradoxically, I also feel that I should help them out in their time of need. Please help Dude, Kick them out and take care of yourself. They haven't paid rent in 2 months it's time for them to go... you need to sue her and her friend for rent and you personal belongings that have been stolen. u need to move out because she will never pay and sue her. I would pay it and evict her and her buddy. Take her to court for her part of it, but pay it now to keep yourself out of trouble. The courts will make her reimburse you for her part. Being in a time of need is not moving someone in without your permission and your stuff going missing. She's screwing you around. kick her *** out shes just useing you for all tht she can then will move on ... Forget about being sued it won't go any further, it's just an intimidation tactic. kick them out. u may feel guilty but u are who u have to take care of. the problems she has are the ones they caused for themselves plus ur items are missing js bc u had to get away for a couple weeks. tell her that u can no longer live in ur house the stress is making u sick again and u have to worry abour ur health above all else Get over wanting to enable this behavior from your roomy and kick them out. You have already had stress related health problems and taking on the financial burdens of two unemployed users with a history of not paying their bills isn't going to help you. They will never learn to take care of their responsibilities if you let them take advantage of you. Take up the rental office on their offer and take care of number one first, lest you cannot be of help to anyone else in the future. |
