Vacate notices?

my friend got one in the mail yesterday and it said for her to be out by midnight tonight..can they do that or do they have to give you some more time? Also their offices are closed on the weekends so how is she supposed to pay the rent and get in touch with them?

this is the first notice she's been given..it's for texas if that helps any.

State and local laws govern this type of situations, but no, that sure doesn't sound reasonable if it's the first notice. If she's already had notice to vacate, with this timeframe shown unless certain things are done, then maybe it would be reasonable.

it doesn't matter if this is her first or her 20th notice. However, the shortest notice is 72 hours. Typically, because of not paying rent. There should then be some amount paid to the landlord that will stop this notice.

Even if you get a notice to vacate, you don't necessarily have to be moved out by that date. The notice is required by the courts to begin eviction process.
