LOUD Obnoxious and Boisterious?

Every summer and spring at my office job with one of Americas Top Forutne 500 companies my company decides to hire these loud obnoxious lazy and foul smelling (community) college and highschool kids . BTW this is not a B/W thing because these kids are not black. (not the ones making all the trouble anyway) These kids from like 18-23 years old get paid a lucrative salary for that age of $18-$25 hour to do the same work weve been doing all year . They steal your office supplies off your desk and dont return them take your chairs and sit in your assigned seats with name plates like they own them when theres unassigned computers sitting close by. They dont work but act like its a frat party most of the time. Why would my company hire these ppl that still live at home with mommy and daddy over willing responsible adults with bills and rent to pay?

Well, this sounds right up my alley, and I could really use a salary like that! Hire me and I'll actually work for such crazy bucks.

But seriously, as an 18 year old frat boy who will be working a nice internship this year, this falls squarely on the shoulders of your management for not conducting thorough enough interviews. It is pretty clear who will work hard and be an asset to a given organization after a good interview. These kids should be aware that they can (and should) be fired for not completing their duties. Perhaps management should step up and supervise a little better, as well as provide small, daily tasks that can be checked up on to make sure they're being completed.

I realize that it isn't your place to institute these changes, and really, "what can you do". Try shooting one or two of them down and cutting them down to size. Make sure you show that you can't be walked all over and stand up for your property (demand that they buy you something if they lose it/don't return it). Good luck :)

Maybe the company is just trying to give them a hand. They are the type of people who would otherwise not be hired. But if it is really a big concern for you get a group of people who feel the way you do and voice your complains to high management. Maybe these people don't know they are being unprofessional, after all they are college and highschool students, many of them have never been in a corporate setting before.

You should lock up your items knowing they are going to come. Also, a locker would be a good idea. Maybe you should bring it up at the company meeting and have a well thought-out plan for your employer.

It's worth a shot.

You can file complaints starting with your department heads and moving up the chain until someone listens. It's quite unprofessional to hire someone in that manner and situation and expect permanent employees and customers to put up with that type of behavior. I can understand for temporary positions and kids fresh out of school, but to pay them the same as experienced employees makes no sense.
Trust me, the more people you get to file professional complaints, the better you will be heard. Good luck with that! And look up some tips on technical writing. It'll help tremendously to get your point across.
