Help Quick! I need to think of a good lie...details inside?

I know, I know, lying is NOT the way to go and I'm totally ashamed of doing this, but I really have no choice and it's only a short-term lie.

My friend has been sending me money to save for him to move to where I live. He was planning to move at the end of November. I used the money to pay for an alternative cancer treatment (nobody knows I'm sick and I plan to keep it that way - I have my reasons) thinking I had plenty of time to replace it. Then yesterday he called to tell me he had arranged to rent an apartment and move next Friday. He told the rental office I would be by yesterday with the first month's rent and the deposit. What do I do???!!! I told him that yesterday I got caught late at a dr. appt. with my daughter (which really is the truth, but had I had the money, I could have hurried and made it before they closed).

I am sure I will have the money by Monday. But I need a good lie for today - in an hour. Help! It has to be believable and not too detailed...Thanks

Wow, where are all these decent people for the rest of the questions on Yahoo Answers. It's usually full of a bunch of negative jerks and the one time I need someone with few morals, I can't find one.

Tell him you lost your debit card and can't get the money out of your bank until monday when you get your new one in the mail...you can always blame stuff on the bank :)

tell him the truth he is your friend and he will understand especially if you will really have the money by monday the best answer is the right answer

Come clean. Cancer is a big deal he will DEFNITELy understand if he's a good friend.
Lying has a way of catching up with you adn I'm sorry but if I'm honest he will find out and it could wreck your friendship.

Well, deep trouble..Is it true the cancer treatment or is also a lie?? Anyways..for today and if you think you are going to have the money for monday, you can tell your friend that your car broke down, that, if the apartment is not close to yours!!.
Other thing could be that you have to work over time and you are not going to make it on time!!!..Run out of ideas...Good luck and try to be honest next time!!!!!

i think that you should tell your friend the truth! there is no lie that would explain the missing money! and besides he will understand! if he trusted you enough to send you the money and allow you to keep it, im sure that he will understand about the cancer! cancer is serious! trust hom enough to understand...if hes a true friend..then he will know that the treatment was important!
