Where would i find online how to file complaint against a apartment complex?

i was locked out of my apartment without notice for a whole night.my check was return for rent non paid, i was not given a notice,just locked out.i sit in my car all night till next morning,at 7 am i started calling the office because i needed to take my heart medication and get ready for work,but they would not let me in until around 10:30 am so i missed half days work.but i went to bank and got the money for the rent. they put the note on door so any one could see it. i was totally embarrassed by their treatment.i never been late on my rent and never had a check return on my rent since i moved here.

You can always file a complaint against the landlord with the Better Business Bureau.

You might also want to consult an attorney. It is illegal for a landlord to lock you out of your apartment before a formal eviction has been executed through the appropriate governmental authority. You may have had your rights violated and be entitled to damages. Keep receipts for all expenses involved such as motel lodging, etc..

i would check around online for the local housing authority in your area.. unfortunately, if that does not work, you may have to take your case to small claims court.. or try code enforcement, if you have one..

If you are telling the whole story, it is amazing.
I would start by calling the management company. It is against the law to lock someone out of their apartment. You do not owe back rent? You have not received any notice or letter from the office? Why would they return your check if you always pay on time? Usually if they return your check it means you have an eviction pending and IF they do accept the check, it makes the eviction notice null and void. Why did you go to the bank for the rent money after they had already returned your check? Did they accept it the second time??
What was the reason they couldn't let you in the apartment before 10:30 a.m.?
What did the note say that they put on your door for everyone to see? It wasn't in an envelope?

This just does not add up. They do not go out of their way to pick on someone. They have enough work to do without harrassing a tenant. Just doesn't make sense to me.
