London Commuting Costs?

I don't live in UK, yet. But, I always knew that living in Greater London or commuting belt is cheaper than inner London. But a commuter spend more on transportation.

Does it worth? I mean, if you live in inner London, you would pay more rent but you would have less transportation costs.

How much a person who lives anywhere in the commuting area and works in Central London spends monthly, in average, with transportation, including, train + tube, with Oyster. Is oyster accepted on Greater London trains?

Is there advantages living in London outskirts, paying less rent but more transportation? How long would be a decent commuter time (door to door, home to office)?

I agree with the other person, no car! Living near a tube station in outer london can be quite pricey as well, so your problem isn't entirely solved. On average, I spend 拢14 - 拢24 a week on oyster, depending on whether I am being lazy and catching a tube, or being energetic and catching buses. Oyster isn't valid on most overground trains in outer london.
Good luck, I wouldn't wish London on anyone though.

London is quite congested. I would say best thing is to live somewhere where you can walk down to a tube station or bus stop. Do not attempt to make a car your primary transportation, it will not work.
