Benefits and entitlements?

I am a lone parent, my partner is looking at moving in with me. He works full time. Who do i tell in the benefits office and will this affect my own benefit. In regards to paying full rent and council tax. He would be the main breadwinner, but does not earn enough for six people to live on.

yes, you would need to tell the benefit office and connect asap to avoid an overpayment of benefits, tax credits, council tax and housing benefit.

I advise you go to the citizens advice bureau and ask them to do a benefit check for you as to the situation when your partner moves in. They have a special program where they input your partners income, the age of your children, health status if any, the amount of full rent charged for proerty and the full amount of council tax your council charge. The programme will tell you exactly what you will need to pay, how much, to whom etc.

Although you may lose some benefits, you may find you become entitled to other benefits such as working tax credits etc.

The CAB programme is very accurate.
