How can I put my name on the furniture and appliances?

I will rent my house with furniture included. It probably will be montly so I am looking for advise on how to actually put my name on it. Just like when they put the property name on office stuffs. I am scare that they can still my things, because I wount be around. Any kind of pan or even bar code security? Thanks

On your appliances there's the serial number and make and model. Keep receipts of all the furniture and appliances and take pictures as well. Make sure the lease agreement states whats included in the lease and that if they come up missing the tenant will be responsible. In the meantime, if they are burglarized your home owner's insurance could probably cover that.

The only thing that I could say is that you have to decide what you are willing to let go of. You as the landlord won't be able to do searches just because you want to see if your stuff is still in there.

Make sure you take plenty of photos of your stuff so you have some proof of ownership I think you can get something that will etch a code on.

Do a couple of things:
1) take pictures of the stuff
2) get tenants to sign-off on the list (supported by pictures)
3) get a hefty security deposit..or maybe a bond.
4) mark your stuff with indelible marker (or engraver if metal)

or:

Choose your tenants carefully.

i had the same problem when i rented out my apartment fully furnished. what i did was make an inventory or list off all the furnitures that were inside the apartment and taking down all the details per furniture like say its reciepts, where you'd bought it, date bought, and its serial number. then have the rentee sign a personal voucher made by you with the inventory list on it therfore binding him/her that all the stuff on the list is yours and will not be stolen. of course, make sure to have it photocopied 3x and give one to the rentee and onw to the administration of the building and one for you. the original shud be yours as well.

you could always get one of those little engraving tools - like the police use in Operation I.D. -- http://www.tempe.gov/cpu/opid.htm you might be able to borrow a engraving tool from your local police department -- just call and ask them if they have an Operation ID program ..

Don't leave anything in there that you can't replace. If it is that important to you then you should not leave it in a rental.
